M.Eng, CEM, EP
Tayber is the principal of Sustainable Projects Group where he has overseen more than 1,000 energy audits and energy efficiency projects across Canada. He earned his Masters of Engineering in Clean Energy Engineering from the University of British Columbia, where he decided to apply his knowledge to addressing real world issues within the energy efficiency sector. Tayber holds a CEM and EP designation and was awarded the Directors Inspirational Award by the Provincial government. Tayber has been an active proponent in promoting energy efficiency across Canada and holds a seat on the board of the Association of Energy Engineers Alberta Chapter, as well as the Metro Vancouver Chapter. As a personal interest, Tayber also holds the energy seat on the board of directors for CANSEAT, a Canadian charity which works to incorporate sustainable design principles into Canadian Engineering standards.
Master Electrician, FSR-A, CEM
Shaun started his electrical career in 2004, working his way into project management and eventually started his own electrical company in 2010. Since joining Sustainable Projects Group as the General Manager, Shaun has continued to manage and oversee the installation of a broad range of electrical projects and high-efficiency upgrades. Shaun shows continued dedication to advancing his knowledge by earning his CEM designation in 2019, already having earned his Master Electrician ticket and FSR-A designation. Shaun also plays an important role in company sales and development, consistently striving for results in all aspects of company growth.
Energy Project Manager
EIT, EMIT, LEED Green Associate
Cheska graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering in 2017. Her background is in sustainable development in land use planning and development. As Sustainable Project Groups Energy Project Manager, Cheska is responsible for the oversight and management of project coordination, technical sales support, and day-to-day company operations. Cheska specializes in green building practices (LEED v4, BOMA, eEnergy Management) and building energy modelling (CANQUEST, DiaLUX), securing over $4,000,000 in funding for high efficiency projects to date. Cheska’s passion lies in sustainable development, net-zero buildings, and promoting diversity and education of sustainability in STEM fields.
Marcelo obtained a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary in 2016. He earned his M.Sc. in Renewable Energy from Loughborough University, England where he conducted his thesis on how the operational parameters of wind turbines vary in different environmental conditions. Previously, Marcelo worked as a solar site inspector, collecting structural data and survey information used for the design and engineering of solar PV systems. Since joining SPG, Marcelo has become a valuable member of the team by applying the energy audit process, completing in-depth energy analysis, and calculating savings for proposed energy conservation measures. Marcelo has a wide interest in sustainability spanning from net zero buildings to the transition from fossil fuel electricity generation to renewable energy technology.
Project Content Coordinator
Aislinn is passionate about all things earth and environmental science, earning her B.Sc. in Physical Geography from the University of Calgary in 2017. During which she conducted fieldwork and research on fluvial geomorphology in Kananaskis. Aislinn’s admiration for the planet is what ultimately led her to her position with Sustainable Projects Group, giving her the opportunity to apply sustainability as a strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to sustainable progress. Aislinn has become an important member of both the energy and project support teams in her role as Project Content Coordinator. Aislinn has a hand in energy the development of effective energy analysis and project documentation including energy audit reports, sales proposals, installation documents, and project summary reports.
Since earning her B.Sc. in Environmental Science from the University of British Columbia, Angie continually strives to expand her education and skill set. Angie coordinates the installation of energy efficiency projects for commercial, multi-residential and industrial clients. Her responsibilities include facilitating project logistics and operations, data-processing, and general company bookkeeping. She is currently pursuing her Project Management Professional (PMP) designation through the Project Management Institute (PMI) and her Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation through the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Angie has a broad interest in sustainability, renewable energy and the implementation of project management to create a greener tomorrow.
Jonathan has been working in the electrical trade since 2007 and has received his Master Electrician certification. In his role as project manager, Jonathan ensures that projects are completed on time with high quality workmanship, while maintaining client and internal project communication. He has proven experience working on diverse energy efficiency upgrades which include lighting retrofits, boiler replacement, controls, solar installations and geothermal installations. Jonathan is also the Safety Officer at Sustainable Projects Group, where he focuses on the day to day safety of field and office staff and creates company safety documentation. He is currently expanding his safety training and designation as he works towards achieving his National Construction Safety Officer (NSCO) certification.
Pete began working on high-rise buildings in Calgary and moved to oil and gas in Fort McMurray in 2007. In 2013, Pete moved back to Calgary to work as a foreman on commercial projects, which eventually lead him to his position at Sustainable Projects Group. Pete has participated in a variety of electrical projects, ranging from installing Tesla chargers in residential properties, wiring electricity and lighting of commercial cranes, and installing VFD’s and high efficiency boilers in commercial and industrial facilities.
Mike has worked on numerous oilfield projects spanning from Northern British Columbia to southern Manitoba. After receiving his Journeyman certificate in 2014, he began working in data center construction, where he specialized in the installation of medium voltage switchgear, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and battery systems, and backup generator installations. Mike joined Sustainable Projects Group in September of 2018, taking pride in his ability to apply his electrical knowledge for a company that focuses on energy efficiency and sustainability.
Deeti graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, where she focused her studies on renewable energy. She was introduced to the built environment through researching Net Zero Energy Homes with the University’s Civil Engineering department. Since 2017, she has worked with multiple clients to get the approval of LED and Combined Heat and Power retrofit projects. Bringing with her to this role is a passion and expertise for utility data analysis, energy efficiency project feasibility studies, whole building energy modelling, and energy management for commercial buildings. Deeti is also a member in good standing with APEGA, CaGBC, and the AEE Alberta Chapter.
Energy Project Administrator
In her role as Energy Projects Administrator, Emily provides ongoing incentive, research and project support to the sales, energy team, and operations teams. She earned a B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Geography from the University of Calgary. Throughout her studies she focused primarily on hydrology and soil sciences with a specific interest in bioengineering techniques and their impact on river restoration. With her impressive course list and extensive knowledge of soil systems, she is eligible for her Agrologist in Training Designation (AIT) from the Alberta Institute of Agrologists. Emily’s interest in environment science and sustainability led her to her position at Sustainable Projects Group where she is proud to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Kyle graduated from SAIT in 2016, earning his Electrical Journeyman ticket. He has been working in the electrical industry since 2009 where he has gained years of experience working as a service electrician and junior estimator in both commercial and residential settings. Since joining Sustainable Projects Group, Kyle has had the opportunity to continue his electrical career and expand into industrial scale electrical projects as well. Kyle is keen to learn more about the installation of green and renewable energy technologies such as solar PV systems, and is looking forward to expanding his knowledge and experience working on these types of projects.
Michelle Grettum manages the accounting and finance department at Sustainable Projects Group and is responsible for maintaining the overall financial health of the organization. Michelle started her career in accounting and finance in 2001. She has over 17 years of experience working for a large-scale project-based construction company, where she was a key player in expanding the company from a $1 million corporation to well over $40 million. Her goal is to apply her experience and implemented process efficiency to drive fast paced growth and success which enables SPG to become a global leader in sustainable energy. Michelle takes great pride in being part of an expanding company that is passionate and dedicated to protecting our environment.
